What this video shows

What this shows: Metal roof installation details in Leander, the fastening and flashing that separate a watertight install from an early failure. It belongs here because the details are easier to see than to describe.

Metal roofing fails at fasteners and terminations, essentially never in the middle of a panel. Two details carry most of the risk. The first is movement: a steel panel expands and contracts measurably over a Texas temperature swing, so panels have to be clipped in a way that lets them move, and a panel pinned tight at both ends will eventually oil can, back out its fasteners, or tear at the holes. The second is exposed fasteners, where the seal is a neoprene washer under a screw head; those washers are a wear item, they need to be driven to the right depth rather than as tight as the gun will go, and a standing seam system avoids the problem by hiding the fastener under the seam entirely. Add correct penetration boots rated for the panel profile and a proper closure at eave and ridge, and the roof does not have a common failure point left.
