What this video shows
What this shows: A short message on how bad roofing decisions start before tear-off, with wrong materials, poor installation and storm-chasing contractors. It belongs here because it is the reason the contractor checklist on this page exists.
Most of what goes wrong on a roof is decided before anyone climbs a ladder. The material is chosen, the scope is written and the crew is picked, and every one of those choices happens at a kitchen table, not on the roof. Texas has no statewide roofing license, so the checks fall to the homeowner: a local address you can drive to, proof of insurance sent straight from the agent, references from nearby jobs you can look at, and a written scope that names the materials and the manufacturer's installation requirements. A contractor who answers those questions plainly is easy to compare against one who does not. Taking a few days to do this costs nothing.
Published March 2026. Choosing a Roofing Contractor covers this subject in full, and roofing in Round Rock is the local page for this work.
