What this video shows
What this shows: Hail damage signs explained during an inspection in Manor: what to look for, what it means and how it gets documented. It belongs here as a walk-through of the inspection itself.
Hail bruising on an asphalt shingle is something you find with your hand before you find it with your eye. A functional impact leaves the mat fractured underneath while the surface shows little more than a spot where the granules were knocked loose, and it feels soft, like the give in a bruised piece of fruit, when pressure is put on it. That is the distinction that decides a claim: granule loss alone is weathering, a fractured mat is damage, and the two look similar in a photograph taken from the wrong angle. Marking each one as it is found, on a slope by slope basis, is what makes the difference legible to somebody who was not on the roof.
