What this video shows

What this shows: Ventilation failure on a Kyle roof: how poor attic airflow damages shingles from underneath and can void manufacturer warranties. It belongs here because the cause sits out of sight in the attic.

Ventilation damages shingles from the side nobody inspects. An attic without enough intake at the soffit and exhaust at the ridge runs far hotter than the outside air in a Central Texas summer, and that heat cooks the asphalt in the shingle from underneath, ages it years ahead of schedule, and holds moisture against the decking in winter. Two things follow. Shingle manufacturers write ventilation requirements into their warranties, so an under vented roof can be a denied warranty claim rather than a covered one. And intake is the half that is usually missing: adding ridge vent without opening the soffits gives the attic an exhaust with nothing feeding it, which does very little.
