You are talking to software
- This is an AI assistant, not a personThe chat window on this site is an automated assistant built on a large language model. It is not David, not a roofer, and not a member of staff. If you would rather speak to a person, call or text 512-575-5052 at any point.
- It answers from published materialThe assistant draws its answers from written guidance published on this site together with a reviewed set of roofing doctrine. When it does not have approved information on a topic, it is built to say so and point you to a person rather than fill the gap with a guess.
- It can still be wrongLanguage models can produce confident answers that are incorrect or incomplete. Treat anything it tells you as general education to be confirmed, not as a finding about your specific property.
Limits
What it cannot do
- It is not an inspectionNothing the assistant says is a roof inspection, a condition assessment, or an engineering opinion. Roof conditions cannot be established from a conversation, and many cannot be established without lifting material. A description or a photo is not a diagnosis.
- It is not an estimate or a quoteThe assistant may explain what drives roofing cost and give general planning ranges. It cannot price your roof. A real price requires measurements, access conditions, layers, decking, ventilation, material selection, and a written scope.
- It cannot tell you what your insurance coversCoverage decisions belong to your insurer and depend on your policy language and the documented facts. The assistant will not interpret your policy, predict an outcome, promise approval, or characterise an adjuster's determination. For policy interpretation or a dispute, speak with your insurer, a licensed public adjuster, or an attorney.
- It will not discuss deductible arrangementsThe Roof Shepherd will not participate in deductible-waiver arrangements, and the assistant will not help structure one. This applies regardless of how the question is framed.
- It is not legal, financial, or engineering adviceFor matters that require a licensed professional, the assistant is built to name the right professional rather than answer in their place.
- It will never tell you to get on your roofThe assistant is instructed never to advise roof access. Everything useful can be documented from the ground or from inside the building. Please do not climb up to check.
Emergencies
When not to use it
Do not use the assistant to report an emergency. For fire, structural movement, a collapsing ceiling, electrical arcing, or water reaching energised equipment, contact emergency services or your utility first. For an active roof leak, call or text 512-575-5052 rather than waiting on a chat reply.
Your Information
What is stored
Before any conversation is recorded, an automatic process removes email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, unit numbers, policy, claim and account numbers, and card-style number sequences. That removal is pattern-based and thorough, but it cannot reliably catch a personal name typed into open text. Please do not type names, account numbers, policy documents, or financial details into the assistant.
Conversation text is kept for up to 30 days and then deleted. Because conversations are not linked to your name or account, and the session reference is a one-way hash, we have no way to find a specific person's past conversations in order to delete them on request. The full detail, including retention periods and how your message is processed by our AI provider, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Service availability in any particular city is confirmed in writing, never by the assistant. Use of this site is governed by the Terms of Use.
