Fort Worth Zone

Hail Alley

Bridgeport sits in North Texas, which records the most hailstorms in Texas in a typical year, the state logged 878 major hail events in 2024. Documentation after a storm protects your position before any contractor conversation. Bridgeport is a fast-growing Wise County city south of Arlington, with newer suburban homes exposed to recurring North Texas hail.

Hail & Storm Exposure

NOAA’s verified record since 2018 within 10 miles of Bridgeport includes 2.75 inch hail at Bridgeport Muni Arpt on May 17, 2025; 2 inch hail at Chico on April 17, 2019. 26 thunderstorm wind events and 4 tornado reports sit inside the same window. Peak hail months here: May and April. Across Wise County as a whole, NOAA logged 115 hail events from 2016 through 2025, with hail to 4.5 inches, plus 58 damaging thunderstorm wind events and 8 tornado reports.

HOA & Material Considerations

Many Wise County neighborhoods carry HOA architectural review requirements on shingle color and material. Given the hail exposure, impact-resistant (UL 2218 Class 3 to 4) shingles are worth discussing. Confirm HOA rules before selecting materials.

Common Roofing Issues

Repeated large-hail exposure means bruised shingles, granule loss, and soft-metal damage to vents and flashing, conditions a documented inspection captures before the next storm makes them worse.

What To Document

Bruised shingles, granule loss, and soft-metal damage to gutters, vents, and flashing, often invisible from the ground.

What the storm record means locally

After a major hail event, out-of-state contractors arrive quickly. Documentation before any contractor conversation gives you a written record of visible conditions, and protects your position whether you file a claim or not. The Roof Shepherd documents first. Decisions come after.

Neighborhood Exposure

Neighborhoods across Bridgeport (Wise County) vary by lot elevation, tree cover, and roof age, so block-level documentation beats area-wide estimates. After any significant storm, a documented record of visible conditions protects your position.

How these figures are corroborated

Verified hail and wind events across the Dallas and Fort Worth metroplex, the region Bridgeport sits in. Roof condition changes with every storm season, which is why the homeowner should own the documentation.

If your roof was on the house for any of those dates, that is worth documenting whether or not you ever filed anything. A dated condition record is far easier to produce now than to reconstruct later.

Permits are a Bridgeport question, not a Texas question. Texas has no statewide building code for residential roofing. Each city and county adopts its own, so the threshold that triggers a permit, the fee, and whether a deck inspection is required before cover-up are all set locally in Wise County. A contractor who cannot tell you which jurisdiction issues your permit, and who pulls it, has not done this here often. We pull it in our own name.

I happened to stumble across David while out walking my dogs and I am so glad I did! Godley had just been hit with a hail storm and needed someone to take a look at my roof to check for damage. David came the very next day to inspect. He showed me pictures of the damage and answered any questions I had. Thankfully the damage was not extensive that a roof replacement was needed but if indeed a replacement was needed I would’ve felt at ease with David completing the process. I especially liked his professionalism and knowledge. Should I ever need anyone for roofing services I will definitely be calling him!

The Roof Shepherd LLC, came to my rescued in time when I was struggling to find help with my damaged roof. My home insurance at the time refused to provide help or pay for the damage to my roof at the time unless I pay the substantial amount they requested up front of ($28,500). I felt so lost, confused and helpless worrying on how to pay this and keep my home safe and prevent the roof from worse leaks due to bad weather and heavy rain our area was receiving at the time. Three months in praying asking God for help. On May 10th 2026, Saturday morning my doorbell rang. When I open the door I was met with a brighter smile of a man whom introduced himself as David Rodriguez and he wanted to speak with me about my roof. And that's when this beautiful blessed "Roof Shepherd" enter my heart ❤️, and my home. I praise God for His blessings and prayers answered. David the "Roof Shepherd" stuck with me and promise me that he will help me with my problems. He pray with, walked me through every difficult steps I needed to go through. From May 10th through November 7th we finally received the financial help I needed. I had also asked David to help me search for a new home insurance and yes, he came through that for me as well. God answered my prayers in time when I needed help and I could not thank Him enough. I thank you David for your service, you've never given up on me when I was struggling along the way. It was a long depressed and difficult 6 months but you were still there for me till end. I'm very proud to say, I now have a beautiful strong Roof on my house, and a reasonable well managed Home/Auto insurance. Yes I will and do recommend "The Roof Shepherd" 💯 to anyone and everyone who are struggling and are experiencing the same problem and difficult I've gone through with my Roof and home insurance. We just got into town after a long-distance move, and after looking at our new house we realized the builder paint was pretty bad. We wanted to get all the walls repainted fast before we moved in, and ended up getting connected with David. We’re super happy with everything — David and his crew were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and communicative the whole time, and the work came out great. David even noticed some other builder issues and had the crew fix them while they were there. Turnaround was lightning fast, and we didn’t have to change our move-in schedule at all.

Owner Response

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review. I know how stressful a long-distance move can be, especially when you’re trying to get settled and realize the home still needs work before move-in. I’m grateful you trusted us to help get the painting handled quickly, and I’m glad the crew were able to deliver quality work while keeping communication clear throughout the project. We also appreciate you noticing the extra details we addressed along the way — when we see issues that can reasonably be corrected while we’re already there, we try to do the right thing and help protect the home. Thank you again for trusting us, and we’d be honored to help with anything else you need in the future.

Exterior & Painting

What Bridgeport, TX homeowners should know about exterior work

Local Paint & Exterior Note

Bridgeport, the Wise County seat with deep railroad heritage, mixes older homes near its historic downtown with newer subdivisions. Older frame and brick homes need routine exterior paint and wood care, while newer builds focus on trim and flashing.

Sequence Matters

Exterior painting and repair work should follow, not precede, roofing documentation. Condition notes from a roof visit often surface fascia rot, gutter separation, and trim damage that affect painting scope and cost before a single brush stroke is applied.

How quickly can I get a roof inspection in Bridgeport?

Active leaks and post-storm documentation are prioritized. Send your address and a short description of the concern and we’ll follow up with a current estimate.

Bridgeport sits in the North Texas hail corridor, among the most hail-active metro areas in the country. Documenting visible roof and gutter conditions after any significant storm is good practice.
