Common Roofing Issues

Repeated large-hail exposure means bruised shingles, granule loss, and soft-metal damage to vents and flashing, conditions a documented inspection captures before the next storm makes them worse.

If your roof was on the house for any of those dates, that is worth documenting whether or not you ever filed anything. A dated condition record is far easier to produce now than to reconstruct later.

Permits are a Glen Rose question, not a Texas question. Texas has no statewide building code for residential roofing. Each city and county adopts its own, so the threshold that triggers a permit, the fee, and whether a deck inspection is required before cover-up are all set locally in Somervell County. A contractor who cannot tell you which jurisdiction issues your permit, and who pulls it, has not done this here often. We pull it in our own name.

I happened to stumble across David while out walking my dogs and I am so glad I did! Godley had just been hit with a hail storm and needed someone to take a look at my roof to check for damage. David came the very next day to inspect. He showed me pictures of the damage and answered any questions I had. Thankfully the damage was not extensive that a roof replacement was needed but if indeed a replacement was needed I would’ve felt at ease with David completing the process. I especially liked his professionalism and knowledge. Should I ever need anyone for roofing services I will definitely be calling him!

The Roof Shepherd LLC, came to my rescued in time when I was struggling to find help with my damaged roof. My home insurance at the time refused to provide help or pay for the damage to my roof at the time unless I pay the substantial amount they requested up front of ($28,500). I felt so lost, confused and helpless worrying on how to pay this and keep my home safe and prevent the roof from worse leaks due to bad weather and heavy rain our area was receiving at the time. Three months in praying asking God for help. On May 10th 2026, Saturday morning my doorbell rang. When I open the door I was met with a brighter smile of a man whom introduced himself as David Rodriguez and he wanted to speak with me about my roof. And that's when this beautiful blessed "Roof Shepherd" enter my heart ❤️, and my home. I praise God for His blessings and prayers answered. David the "Roof Shepherd" stuck with me and promise me that he will help me with my problems. He pray with, walked me through every difficult steps I needed to go through. From May 10th through November 7th we finally received the financial help I needed. I had also asked David to help me search for a new home insurance and yes, he came through that for me as well. God answered my prayers in time when I needed help and I could not thank Him enough. I thank you David for your service, you've never given up on me when I was struggling along the way. It was a long depressed and difficult 6 months but you were still there for me till end. I'm very proud to say, I now have a beautiful strong Roof on my house, and a reasonable well managed Home/Auto insurance. Yes I will and do recommend "The Roof Shepherd" 💯 to anyone and everyone who are struggling and are experiencing the same problem and difficult I've gone through with my Roof and home insurance. David inspected my roof and provided valuable information. I told him from the beginning that I just wanted the inspection done, and although he knew that I wouldn't likely buy a new roof he came out anyways. He did inform me of certain issues that I should keep an eye for. Once the next storm hits I know who I will call. Thanks for the inspection, advice and guidance.

Owner Response

Leo, thank you for trusting me with the commercial roof evaluation in Georgetown, Texas. My goal was to give you a clear understanding of the metal roof’s current condition without pressuring you into work that was not immediately necessary.

We reviewed three practical options: replacing and resecuring the existing fasteners, applying a commercial roof coating system, or installing a new standing-seam metal roof. Each option has different advantages, limitations, maintenance requirements and long-term costs, so it was important to explain the pros and cons clearly.

I appreciate the opportunity to provide the inspection and guidance. When the property needs another evaluation or you are ready to move forward, The Roof Shepherd will be here to help.

Exterior & Painting

What Glen Rose, TX homeowners should know about exterior work

Local Paint & Exterior Note

Glen Rose, the Somervell County seat with deep railroad heritage, mixes older homes near its historic downtown with newer subdivisions. Older frame and brick homes need routine exterior paint and wood care, while newer builds focus on trim and flashing.

Sequence Matters

Exterior painting and repair work should follow, not precede, roofing documentation. Condition notes from a roof visit often surface fascia rot, gutter separation, and trim damage that affect painting scope and cost before a single brush stroke is applied.
